Concerts
In July, Orquestra XXI returns to the stage with a programme centred on Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9. Written during the composer's time in New York, the celebrated 'New World' Symphony blends elements of African-American musical traditions with the European classical tradition and is widely regarded as one of the most beloved works in the symphonic repertoire. The programme also features the Portuguese premiere of Cortejo by Portuguese-American composer Andreia Pinto Correia. In addition, Orquestra XXI will join forces with Marie-Ange Nguci, one of the most outstanding young pianists of her generation, for Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto.
