In April, Orquestra XXI celebrates Easter with a programme focused on the themes of spirituality, renewal and reflection, featuring iconic works from the symphonic repertoire. The concert will be dedicated to the music of Felix Mendelssohn, featuring the overture Calm Sea and a Prosperous Voyage, inspired by poems by Goethe, and the Symphony No. 5 (‘Reformation’), a work of great symbolic depth, marked by references to the Lutheran tradition. This programme also includes Johann Sebastian Bach’s Piano Concerto No. 1, performed and conducted by Dinis Sousa. The 34th Tour of Orquestra XXI includes public performances at the Viseu International Music Spring Festival, the Música em Leiria Festival and the Auditório de Espinho, combining the artistic dimension with an educational component through the organisation of an Orchestra Workshop aimed at students of specialised arts education.
